Support Older Adults
Older adults often need special supports to help them continue living in their community safely and with dignity. JCS volunteers can make a difference by providing escorted transportation, helping with grocery shopping, or providing companionship for clients of JCS.
Through the JCS Mitzvah Mobility program, volunteers drive and escort JCS clients to medical appointments, and help community members who have limited transportation options stay healthy and independent. Drivers are needed for weekdays and the times are flexible. Drive as often as you like. Mileage reimbursement is available if needed.
Find out how the simple act of giving a ride can change a life. Read “The Mitzvah Behind Mitzvah Mobility.”
Reduce the isolation experienced by many older adults. Offer companionship to frail elderly and homebound clients, and to clients with developmental disabilities. Spending just an hour once a week can brighten a life.
Become part of our Shopper Corp by grocery shopping for older adult clients in the community. Obtain a shopping list and go to the supermarket yourself, or accompany an individual to a store to help select groceries once a week or every other week. The times are flexible, the help you provide is immeasurable.
