• Understand behavior change as a process, not as an event
• Understand the ways in which motivational interviewing style and content contribute to behavior change
• Understand the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior (Prochaska & DiClemente, 1982) and how to effectively apply it to facilitating behavior change
