Jewish Big Brother Big Sister
All children need supportive, caring adults in their lives. When parents and families need additional support, JCS matches Big Brother or Big Sister mentors with children and teenagers ages 7 to 17. These relationships are mutually rewarding and often develop into lasting friendships.
Jewish adult volunteers provide one-to-one mentoring for Jewish youth from single-parent families and others needing support. Mentors can also be provided to children in families where a family member (sibling or parent) is ill. We work with all segments of the Jewish community.
Studies have shown that youth who have Big Brothers or Big Sisters are less likely to drop out of school, less likely to become involved with alcohol and other drugs, and more likely to have positive relationships with family members.
Our professional staff works closely with parents to match each child with the right Big Brother or Big Sister volunteer. To help ensure that all match relationships will be safe and rewarding, every mentor is carefully screened and our professional staff considers the needs of each child.
