Prevention Education
JCS provides quality educational programs that increase knowledge and awareness about substance use, abuse, addiction, the spread of HIV/AIDS, and other risky behaviors that can impact well-being. HIV/AIDS prevention education is supported by the Steven Kaufman AIDS Outreach Project .
Our programs are age-appropriate and tailored to the particular needs and sensitivities of each audience.
Is AIDS Still a Problem? YES!
By Robin Sweeney, Health Educator, JCS Prevention Education
Since 1988, December 1 has been designated as World AIDS Day. This day focuses public attention on increasing awareness, improving education, and helping those affected by HIV/AIDS. But this work really must be done every day. This year’s theme is “Getting to Zero.” The global focus is on “Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS-related deaths.”
Over the years we have learned much about HIV/AIDS, yet thousands still die of this deadly disease every day throughout the world. There is still no vaccine or cure for HIV/AIDS. At this time, prevention is our best defense.
- Our programs provide information and experiences to help children, teens, and adults make healthy decisions for themselves and those important to them.
