Solutions for… Mental and Emotional Health

Counseling / Therapy

JCS has highly trained and experienced licensed clinical social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists available to help adults, older adults, children and families address life’s challenges.

Psychiatric Services for Children, Adolescents, and Adults

Through the JCS mental health clinic, licensed by the state of Maryland, our board certified psychiatrist works in conjunction with licensed mental health professionals to provide medication, therapy, and outpatient mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. JCS also offers a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) that helps people with chronic mental illness maintain or improve their independence, social living skills, and functioning at home and in the community.

Addiction Services

JCS serves adolescents, adults and families suffering from alcohol, drug or other addictions. Our Addiction Services are provided by clinicians specifically trained in working with a variety of different addictions issues. We help address the challenges of substance use, abuse and addiction through recovery-focused counseling, treatment, and referral services.

Prevention Education Related to Addictions and HIV/AIDS

Baltimore is plagued by alarmingly high rates of drug addiction and HIV/AIDS infection. Our friends, our families, and our children are not immune to these dangers. JCS offers age appropriate education and outreach to raise community awareness about the risky behaviors associated with substance abuse, addiction and the spread of the HIV/AIDS – while addressing personal responsibility and values in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Brief Consultation

There are times when it can be helpful to check in with a professional for a little guidance and advice in addressing the normal challenges in life. JCS offers short-term (1-3 session) professional consultation around issues relating to caring for an aging loved one, parenting, relationships, and more.

Group services

JCS offers therapy groups, support groups and workshops addressing a range of life issues including bereavement, caregiving, addictions, divorce, and personal growth.

Shleimut

Shleimut (wholeness, completeness, integration) is a Jewish multi-disciplinary approach to health, healing and wholeness. Through a partnership between Jewish Community Services and local synagogues, mental health and physical health professionals (e.g., a social worker and a nurse) work with clergy as an on-site interdisciplinary team attending to the mental, physical, and spiritual health and healing needs of a congregational community.
