Last week, Jewish Community Services, Sol Levinson & Bros., the Edward A. Myerberg Center and the Baltimore Board of Rabbis hosted a community forum, Confronting the Opioid Epidemic. The event brought together public health advocates, treatment professionals, people in recovery and concerned community members to talk about the pervasiveness of opioid use and addiction, the devastating impact on individuals and families, and what each of us can do to combat the threat and support those in need of help.
The overwhelming feedback from those who attended was that this started an important conversation that needs to continue on a regular basis. JCS and its partners remain committed to fighting the opioid epidemic and are planning additional programs.
As part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness, JCS Prevention Education has produced “Hooked,” a series of podcasts featuring real people sharing personal stories about the impact of addiction on their lives.
