More than 275 members of Baltimore’s business community got together for breakfast yesterday morning. But it was no ordinary gathering…it was Strictly Business. The inaugural JCS networking and awards breakfast brought together employers from across Maryland to celebrate the businesses who are committed to building a strong workforce so that our economy will grow and thrive. Strictly Business offered the chance for JCS to recognize and thank our region’s local businesses and employers for the role they’re planning in workforce development. JCS values the partnerships we have with so many local businesses, and we’re always looking to expand our network.
As many people learned at the breakfast, JCS Employer Services may in fact be one of the area’s best kept secrets. JCS helps businesses with their recruitment and hiring needs, and we do it at NO COST to the employer. Businesses are encouraged to list their openings with JCS, then our highly trained staff goes to work looking for possible matches from within our bank of qualified candidates. JCS works with clients who have all levels of experience – entry to executive level- connecting them with jobs from a wide variety of industries.
JCS’ approach to workforce development includes helping employers and job seekers. Last year the JCS Career Center provided nearly 1,200 job seekers with the cutting edge guidance and tools they need to find the best possible job in a very crowded field. As a result, Career Center clients landed positions with annual salaries totaling more than 5.2 million dollars! But we couldn’t do it without our amazing employer partners. And yesterday morning we honored three of them: Blue Ocean Realty, PDP Group, Inc., and Wegmans. Our thanks to all the employers who partner with JCS and special thanks to our reception sponsors, Mile One and M & T Bank as well as our media sponsors: WBFF-TV, The Baltimore Sun, WYPR radio, and City Biz List.
Although many communities hold Strictly Business events as fundraisers, our JCS Baltimore Strictly Business networking breakfast was all about friend-raising. Networking was the name of the game. 275 people shaking hands, exchanging business cards and creating new business connections. Event speakers Maryland Secretary of Commerce R. Michael Gill, and University System of Maryland Chancellor Robert L. Caret energized the crowd with their messages of optimism for Baltimore’s future. The strong turnout showed us that Strictly Business is something our community wants and needs. Thanks to all who made it such a big success. Please be on the lookout to save the date for Strictly Business 2017.
